Gareth Southgate DisAppointed Not Have Marcus Rashford Available For Euro Qualifiers
England manager Gareth Southgate sounds disappointed not to have Marcus Rashford available for the upcoming Euro qualifiers against Ukraine.
The Manchester United star, who is having an incredible season for his club, pulled out of the squad after pocking up an unspecified injury in United’s FA Cup win over Fulham last weekend.
Instead, Rashford has jetted off to New York with his girlfriend for some “downtime,” and we hope he enjoys the rest rather than involving himself in international matches when United still have a lot to play for this season.
Rashford posted pictures in Central Park on social media just hours before England’s 2-1 win over Italy in Naples.
Southgate claimed his absence wouldn’t impact the side too much, which is funny, considering Rashford was overlooked on the bench in the latter stages of the World Cup not too long ago.
“So, in terms of a loss when you haven’t had him that often, then it’s different to being a loss,” Southgate told reporters, as quoted by the Daily Star.
“But without a doubt he was in good form. We were looking forward to seeing him.”
Luke Shaw got sent off against Italy, so he will get a rest when England take on Ukraine. That means Harry Maguire might be the only United players involved in that match.
Hopefully, Rashford comes back when United return to action after the international break.
