Girona Midfielder Returns To Training Ahead Of Barcelona Clash
Barcelona resume their La Liga action with a home game against Girona on Monday, April 10. And while the Blaugrana continue to stress over injuries of several key players, it has emerged that their opponents will welcome Aleix Garcia back in the team.
The news was confirmed by the 25-year-old himself while writing across his social media channels (via AS).
“I was looking forward to it! Today I completed the first training with the group with very good feelings. It’s been days of a lot of work and suffering, but we’re back” wrote the midfielder.
The news of Garcia’s return comes as a huge sigh of relief for Girona as the 25-year-old has been a key component of their league success this season. Until his injury, Garcia played every single game for the Catalan outfit in the league, scoring a goal and providing six assists.
However, since his last appearance, which came against Atletico Madrid, he went on to miss consecutive league games against Rayo Vallecano and Espanyol.
For now, while the midfielder is eager to return to the field, it remains to be seen whether or not his manager Michel uses him against Barcelona from the start.
Judging by the look of things, one can expect the 25-year-old to start. Despite having completed only a solitary session with the group, the player has stressed that the sensations “are very good”.
As far as Barcelona are concerned, the likes of Andreas Christensen, Frenkie de Jong, Pedri and Ousmane Dembele will continue to watch their teammates from the sideline.
De Jong is expected to be back in time for the game against Getafe next weekend. As for Christensen, Pedri and Dembele, the match against Atletico Madrid on April 23 is seen as a potential return date.
