Joan Laporta To Confront Javier Tebas In Tomorrow’s La Liga Assembly
Just a couple of days after Joan Laporta’s press conference, where he addressed the Negreira scandal, there will be an assembly hosted by the Spanish football league, involving all 20 top-flight clubs tomorrow.
La Liga president Javier Tebas has stated in the past that Laporta will have the opportunity to talk about the Negreira case in this assembly. But as we approach the date, it appears Laporta has noted down his plans.
According to Ferran Correas (h/t Reshad Rahman), Laporta’s priority in the assembly is to explain the Negreira case and defend Barcelona’s honorability. He wants to double down on the club’s stance of non-involvement in the matter.
Laporta signalled strong sentiments against entities that have been spreading false propaganda against the club, with Barcelona already filing 20 lawsuits for defamation.
The Barcelona president wants to explain how some of the clubs across the Spanish first division have started propaganda against the Blaugrana. Real Madrid could be on the agenda, given how Laporta criticised Los Blancos in yesterday’s press conference.
In addition to defending Barça, Laporta also wants to confront La Liga president Javier Tebas. He will ask him to stop making public statements against Barcelona without any proper evidence.
Tebas has been accused of bias against Barcelona in the past, with the La Liga president reportedly playing a key role in convincing UEFA to launch its own investigation in the Negreira scandal. He has also threatened Barça with demotion in the past.
In an attempt to keep his mouth shut, Laporta will approach Tebas. However, it must be noted that the two do not share a good relationship and it will be a major surprise if any of the two parties come to an agreement by the end of the assembly.
