Jules Kounde Denies Barcelona Exit Rumours: “I Am Not Going Anywhere”
Jules Kounde has become a hot topic in Barcelona after reports came out a few days ago, linking him with a move away from Camp Nou.
The speculations had claimed that the young defender had asked Barcelona to listen to new offers for him in the market. It appears he is unhappy with his role in the first-team, particularly after being assigned the right-back job by Xavi Hernandez.
However, in a Twitter post, Kounde has denied the recent speculations. He has clarified that he has not asked Barcelona to leave the club while assuring that he won’t be leaving Camp Nou anytime soon.
“To make it clear: at no time did I ask to leave, so I’m not going anywhere,” he wrote in a recent tweet.
Kounde’s tweet comes a few days after Xavi Hernandez himself had denied these rumours, dismissing them as normal market speculations. The Barcelona coach went on to confirm his talks with Kounde about the issue.
However, it is clear that the Frenchman is indeed not happy about having to play at right-back. He wants to play in his favourite centre-back position and compete with Andreas Christensen and Ronald Araujo.
Moreover, Barcelona appearing apprehensive about going after a new right-back this summer might have frustrated Kounde even more. But nothing has been fixed as of yet, and the club may still go after a right-back, once they complete the capture of a new midfielder and a striker.
There have been various names that have appeared on the radar of Barça. It must be noted that the exit of Jordi Alba could go a long way in helping the club reduce a chunk of the salary mass, which in turn, could allow them to fund a move for a new fullback in the market.
