Just In: Pedri Ruled Out Of Barcelona Vs Real Madrid
In what could be a major blow for Barcelona, Javi Miguel of AS is claiming that Pedri has been ruled out of Sunday’s El Clasico against Real Madrid.
This comes after Mundo Deportivo’s Fernando Polo reported that midfielder Pedri’s involvement in the weekend El Clasico against Real Madrid is no longer certain.
The 20-year-old had returned to training with the team this week after nearly a month on the sidelines. He had missed six games across all competitions after picking up an injury against Manchester United in February.
But, all seemed well heading into Sunday’s El Clasico, as it was being reported that Pedri was slowly working his way to full fitness and was in line to be ready for the match.
However, as per the report, the 20-year-old prodigy did not have ‘good feelings’ during the training sessions earlier today.
And Javi Miguel is claiming that the midfielder is thus ruled out of the Clasico, while he is unlikely to join the Spanish national team for the UEFA Euro 2024 Qualifiers against Norway and Scotland later this month.
The stance from the club is that they do not want to take any risks with Pedri’s injury. There is still plenty of matches left in the season in the league as well as a possible cup final also awaits the Blaugrana.
Hence, Barcelona want to take zero risks with Pedri, as they are doing with Ousmane Dembele, who will also miss Sunday’s Clasico, while being a doubt for the Copa del Rey semi-final second leg vs Real Madrid as well.
