Fabrizio Romano has revealed that there’s a ‘huge chance’ Aurelien Tchouameni will join a Premier League club this summer, claiming Liverpool are certainly in the mix.
The Monaco midfielder has been heavily linked with a transfer to Anfield in recent weeks.
The French powerhouse, valued at £67 million, is also reported to be interested in joining Jurgen Klopp’s ever-exciting project on Merseyside.
However, the Italian journalist has also revealed that Manchester United, along with the Reds, are genuinely interested.
He told his YouTube channel this afternoon: ““I’m told there is strong interest from the Premier League. Keep an eye on Liverpool. Keep an eye on Manchester United. There is a huge chance for him to sign in the Premier League this summer. They are really keen.”
Well, both Premier League giants need a midfielder this summer.
As brilliant as Thiago and Jordan Henderson are, they’re the wrong side of 30 and no doubt Klopp – who extended his contract at Anfield this week – will be looking to the long term.
And honestly, if it comes down to a choice between Liverpool or the Red Devils, rejecting the German manager is ever so difficult.
Of course, United are a massive club globally, but they aren’t going to be able to offer Tchouameni any Champions League football next season.
Liverpool can not only offer him the opportunity to test himself against Europe’s finest midfielders, but there’s a greater likelyhood of silverware at Merseyside than on Manchester, too.
Having said that, stranger things have happened and the Reds might not even be interested, which could certainly help Erik ten Hag’s efforts at the Theatre of Dreams.
But one of the perks of being among Europe’s best clubs is an ability to attract players and if Liverpool do decide to make a move for Tchouameni, it’s a wrap for most other teams in the equation.
