Pris Saint-Germain Striker Kylian Mbappe In Close Contact With England Clubs Amid Tension With PSG
Paris Saint-Germain are now ostensibly open to selling Kylian Mbappé this summer, following the forward’s letter indicating he would not be extending his contract past the end of next season.
According to L’Équipe this morning, the Ligue 1 champions are looking into potential buyers for the France captain, as well as the potential players that could be involved in swap deals to soften the blow – both financially for the buying club, as well as for PSG in losing Mbappé.
PSG have yet to set an asking price, while Real Madrid appear willing to spend up to €200m – more than the €180m final bid the La Liga side sent in last summer. Mbappé, though, has denied reports of a push to move to the Spanish capital, and insisted that he wants to stay in Paris next season.
While Real Madrid remains the obvious destination, a move to the Premier League is the only other option that appears credible. As a youth player, Mbappé had been the subject of interest from Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal – and according to L’Équipe, Mbappé has remained in contact with several of those teams since.
The striker notably spoke to both Jürgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola back in 2017 before choosing the Parisians, and neither of the managers’ teams would be against putting an offer on the table. In any case, Mbappé’s departure from PSG, after six years at the club, has never looked likelier.
