La Liga Ask Barcelona For Detailed Account Of Finances Including Alba’s Exit, New Sponsors
Earlier this week, reports stated that La Liga had sent Barcelona’s viability plan to two independant specialists for a deeper dive into the blueprint. Given the club’s economic situation, the league wish to ensure that the Blaugranas‘ proposal is workable with no alternate interpretations in the long run.
Santi Ovalle brings to light the latest update on the situation. According to the Spanish journalist, La Liga have now asked Barcelona to present a detailed overview of their planned expenses for June.
Javier Tebas is willing to accept the Catalans’ budget but wants to have a clearer picture of where they plan to splash the cash. With Jordi Alba’s recent exit and the arrival of sponsors onto the scene, Barcelona will not face any problem in convincing La Liga.
More importantly, Joan Laporta has already sent documents to the league office to show that the club will increase their revenue and lower its expenses in the coming campaign.
Come June, Barcelona will bid adieu to some big contracts on their books and thus clear a massive place on the wage bill. With Sergio Busquets, Gerard Pique, Jordi Alba, and Antoine Griezmann officially out of their roster, the Blaugranas should have sufficient economic leeway.
In fact, reports bring to light that the recently announced departures of Alba and Busquets in itself free a whopping €40 million on the wage bill for Barcelona.
Once Laporta officially submits the documents La Liga have requested, swift developments are expected on the viability plan front. The final green light could arrive as early as next week and enable the administration to work on arrivals in full flow.
The league’s green light would also help the club convince their primary target, Lionel Messi, that they have enough room to accommodate his salary and help swing the tide back in their favour.
