La Liga Have Approved The Contract Renewals Of Gavi and Ronald Araujo
In a major boost for Barcelona, it appears La Liga have approved the registrations of Gavi and Ronald Araujo, claims Jijantes.
The two Barcelona stars had renewed their contracts with the club long ago, but the registrations were not ratified by La Liga owing to Financial Fair Play regulations.
However, it appears La Liga have now approved the contract renewals after carefully going through Barcelona’s economic viability plan, with the duo now eligible to be registered uder their new deals. The club had pitched their renewals in the plan, meaning their contracts will now be viable.
This could serve as a big relief for Barça, especially in the case of Gavi. The youngster’s first-team registration was annulled by the Mercantile Court of Barcelona earlier this year, which meant the player had to return to his previous contract that expires at the end of the season.
Due to his contract situation, Gavi had become a target for top European clubs such as Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Liverpool. The player was never really worried about his contract situation though and was assured a solution will to the fore.
With La Liga approving Gavi’s contract, the midfielder now has a deal at Barcelona until 2026. Barcelona are expected to have embedded a hefty €1 billion release clause in the deal.
Araujo, meanwhile, had signed a new contract with Barcelona back in April last year. He too signed a deal until 2026, with a similar €1 billion release clause. But similarly to Gavi, his contract was not ratified by La Liga until now.
Registering the new contracts of Gavi and Araujo was always Barcelona’s priority before the start of the season. So the club will indeed be relieved and will look forward to their team planning, as we approach the summer transfer window.
