LIVERPOOL APPARENTLY FINALISE JURGEN KLOPP DEAL, AS PAPER AROUND HINTS ON PEPIJN LIJNDERS.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has decided to stay at Anfield – and Pepijn Lijnders is following suit by extending his stint with the club.

Rumours have been circling all day about Klopp’s future, with a belief that he was close to extending his contract.

There have been fears that Klopp would be leaving Liverpool in the near future with his contract expiring in 2024.

However, The Athletic now claim that Klopp has in fact signed a new contract to stay with Liverpool until 2026.

Klopp was seemingly considering a sabbatical in 2024, just as he briefly did after leaving Borussia Dortmund.

Yet having been ‘re-energised’ by Liverpool’s chase of a quadruple this season, Klopp has decided to stay.

There is a key part of this report away from Klopp though, as it’s claimed that Klopp and his ‘closest staff’ have also agreed to two-year extensions.

This means that highly-regarded assistant manager Lijnders is seemingly staying at Liverpool too.

Lijnders was actually brought to Liverpool before Klopp even took charge, so their strong relationship has been a huge bonus.

Lijnders, 39, has already had a stint in management himself with NEC Nijmegen and has been trusted to effectively lead Liverpool’s Carabao Cup business having taken most press conferences.

The Dutchman isn’t the only one though, as Klopp has many other key staff around him at Liverpool.

Assistant coach Peter Krawietz, fitness coach Andreas Kornmayer, elite development coach Vitor Matos and goalkeeping coach John Achterberg also appear to be staying.

This is enormous news for Liverpool and a nightmare for Premier League clubs.

Klopp has turned Liverpool into a winning machine and a historic quadruple really is a possibility this season.

Other clubs may have been thinking there were only two more seasons of the Klopp machine, but it’s now another four years.

Good luck to anybody trying to beat Liverpool in the coming years as Klopp is firmly here to stay.
