Former Liverpool striker Dean Saunders believes Sadio Mane is about to ruin his career with a move to Bayern Munich.
Liverpool legend Dean Saunders has sent Sadio Mane a stern warning ahead of his proposed summer move to Bayern Munich.
Mane is expected to complete a switch to the Allianz Arena in the coming days, with reports suggesting the winger will be penning a three-year deal with the Bavarians.
According to Sportbible, the Senegalese is within touching distance of a move to the Bundesliga in a transfer that will bring to an end the winger’s six-year stay at Anfield.
His imminent move to Bayern will come at a time he has won virtually all the major trophies available to him at the Merseyside club.
The former Reds striker believes playing in the Germany top-flight is actually a downgrade for Mane as the league is not competitive enough.
“Nothing against the club, it’s a great club, but the league is nowhere near a challenge for Mane. He’ll get goals. They win 5-0 every week, only one team can win the league,” Saunders told talkSPORT.
“It’s not a challenge. He will get in his armchair, light a cigar up, he’ll play for Bayern in third gear and he’ll coast for two years and ruin the best two years of his life as a footballer,” he added.
