Luka Modric Wants To Give Arda Güler His Shirt At Real Madrid
Real Madrid have officially announced the signing of Turkish midfielder Arda Güler from Fenerbahçe. The 18-year-old has signed a six-year deal and is the latest addition to the young crop of players Carlo Ancelotti has at his disposal.
Güler can play in an attacking midfield role or as a wide man. The youngster fits into the criteria of a versatile player, which is what the Italian coach admires, having already got players such as Eduardo Camavinga, Rodrygo and Fede Valverde who can play various roles.
There will be discussions over the coming weeks about where the Turkish youth international will fit in.
Los Blancos might deem Güler as the long-term successor for Luka Modrić and, according to Turkish journalist Volkan Demir, the Croatian midfielder contacted the teenager to say: “I’m gone next season and I want to give my jersey to you”.
The two have similarities in their style of play. Both have the ability to carry the ball forward, break opposition lines and have a good work rate out of possession.
Having said that, the 18-year-old is still relatively inexperienced and it may take him some time to get up to speed with La Liga and Europe.
