Bento is contracted to Athletico Paranaense until December 2027, but reports have emerged that he could become a Manchester United target this summer. The goalkeeper is also in the sights of La Liga giants Barcelona.
Manchester United are still in talks with David de Gea over a new deal, but so far they have been unable to agree terms with the 32-year-old.
According to Torcedores, United are working to find an ideal replacement if De Gea doesn’t sign a new deal, with scouting being done in the South American market.
Bento, 23, has been one of the star players of Athletico making 51 appearances — also attracting interest from Barcelona where he could become Marc-Andre Ter Stegen’s immediate backup.
He has Brazilian and Italian citizenship.
The report describes him as a “promising player behind the scenes in the football market,” and it’s about time we discovered another gem from across the world.
FC Porto’s Diogo Costa is another goalkeeper named in the report as a target for United. I know who I’d prefer this summer but a lot will depend on whether Erik ten Hag has the transfer kitty to get all his top targets.
