Manchester United have opened talks with Alexis Mac Allister as the club look to beat competition from Premier League rivals to the Brighton midfielder.
Mac Allister is expected to leave Brighton this summer after a superb season for club and country, with the midfielder having been a pivotal part of the Seagulls’ push for European football.
The 24-year-old has scored eight goals in 26 league appearances for Brighton this season, while his profile rose following a series of impressive performances during Argentina’s victorious World Cup campaign in Qatar.
Mac Allister started all but one of Argentina’s seven fixtures at the tournament and provided an assist during the final win over France, as the South Americans were crowned world champions for a third time.
Manchester United have now made their move to sign Mac Allister and according to Fabrizio Romano, as per the Daily Mail, have opened talks. The Red Devils are aware of competition from Liverpool and have made an early approach in a bid to win the race.
A move to Manchester would allow Mac Allister to link up with World Cup-winning teammate Lisandro Martinez, while Erik ten Hag’s side also look set to hold the added incentive of Champions League football.
