Man United To Make Marcus Rashford Their Highest Earner With New Contract
Marcus Rashford is on the verge of signing a bumper new contract at Manchester United, sources have confirmed to DEPREDICT.
The 25-year-old has been locked in talks with his boyhood club over a fresh deal for much of the last year. His contract was set to expire this summer but Man Utd triggered an extension clause to give them more time to thrash out negotiations.
And DEPREDICT understands the two parties have agreed on a deal that will see Rashford become Man Utd’s highest-paid player.
They are finalising the small details of the contract and the club hope to announce Rashford’s extension before he returns for pre-season training next month.
Man Utd have never been concerned of the little time remaining on the forward’s current deal, but they have long been keen to finalise a new contract.
Paris Saint-Germain are long-term admirers of Rashford and have always been open to a transfer, but ultimately he wants to stay at Old Trafford.
Rashford’s Man Utd career was called into question following his worst statistical season in 2021/22, scoring just five goals in 32 games in all competitions and losing his place in the England squad.
But he was Man Utd’s standout player in their first year under Erik ten Hag, scoring a career-high 30 goals in 56 games, having a huge role in their Carabao Cup glory and top-four Premier League finish. He has also regained his spot in Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions setup.
While Rashford’s contract saga is all but over, the future of David de Gea – the club’s current highest earner – remains up in the air.
DEPREDICT on Tuesday talks are ongoing with the Spaniard with his current deal up at the end of the month, though they are actively scouring the market for a new goalkeeper too.
