On Wednesday evening, reports emerged claiming that Barcelona had given the green light to Jorge Mendes, the agent of Ansu Fati, to bring in offers for the youngster this summer.
The 20-year-old has struggled to do much of note this season and has been largely reduced to the role of a squad player despite once being touted as the face of the new Barcelona.
Manager Xavi Hernandez has not shown enough faith in the Spaniard, although the forward has not done all too well when the chances have come his way either.
It has been claimed that Ansu’s father’s explosive interview did not go down well with the club. That, coupled with their need to balance the books, has led to them now becoming open to listening to offers worth at least €40 million for the La Masia ace.
Now, Mundo Deportivo is reporting that major clubs such as Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, and Bayern Munich are interested in signing Ansu Fati from Barcelona in the summer.
Manchester United have held a long-standing interest in the 20-year-old and had been linked with a move for him in the past as well. Given that they are in the market for a new forward, the possibility of a swoop for the Spaniard exists.
Bayern Munich have also had their eyes on talented Barcelona youngsters, including Ansu, and could make a move if they see it as a viable operation. As for Tottenham, while there may be interest, their uncertain managerial situation makes things tricky for the time being.
Irrespective of that, however, Fati is 100% clear that he wants to remain at Barcelona and succeed at the club. He, as well as his father, who had previously advocated a summer exit, are said to have conveyed the message to Mendes that an exit is not an option for the summer.
Fati appreciates that clubs such as United, Bayern and Tottenham are interested in him, but in his heart, he wants to remain at Barça. Just 20 years of age, the forward believes that he has a lot of time to improve and grow and does not want to give up on his dream of succeeding at his boyhood club.
Fati has scored seven goals and set up three more from 41 matches across all competitions. The youngster has started Barcelona’s last two league games and showed some spark. The main aim between now and the end of the season will be to build up continuity and add more goals and assists to his tally.
