MANAGER BIOGRAPHY
Patrick Vieira (born 23 June 1976) is a French professional football manager and former player who is the manager of Premier League club Crystal Palace. He is widely considered as one of the greatest midfielders of his generation.
Patrick Vieira was appointed manager of Crystal Palace on 4 July 2021 as the successor to Roy Hodgson.
Before returning to the Premier League as a manager this summer, Vieira was widely regarded as one of the best midfielders to have graced the competition as a player.
He was one of Arsene Wenger’s first signings as Arsenal manager when he moved to north London from AC Milan in 1996, at the age of 20.
A fearless competitor known for his tough tackling and eye for goal, he helped Arsenal win the Premier League three times, including going unbeaten for the entirety of 2003/04, and the FA Cup on four occasions.
Vieira, who was nominated for the Premier League Hall of Fame in 2021, also won the 1998 FIFA World Cup and UEFA Euro 2000 with France.
He went on to enjoy spells in Italy with Juventus and Inter Milan, where he won the Serie A title three times, before finishing his career with Manchester City and winning the 2011 FA Cup.
Vieira started his managerial career at Manchester City, taking charge of their Premier League 2 side, before assuming his first senior post as head coach with Major League Soccer side New York City FC in January 2016.
In June 2018 Vieira returned to France when he was appointed manager Nice. He guided the Ligue 1 side to a seventh-placed finish in 2018/19 and fifth in 2019/20 before parting company with the club in December 2020.
