Manchester United Charged With Misconduct After FA Cup Win
The Football Association have charged Manchester United charged with misconduct after last weekend’s FA Cup quarter-final win over Fulham.
Erik ten Hag’s side set up a Wembley semi-final date with Brighton & Hove Albion by seeing off the west Londoners in a fiery five-goal thriller at Old Trafford.
Several Red Devils’ players surrounded referee Chris Kavanagh during a VAR review for an apparent handball by Fulham winger Willian.
English football’s governing body announced on Thursday that United will now face a charge of failing to control their players in the incident, which led to Willian, Fulham team-mate Aleksandar Mitrović and manager Marco Silva all sent off in a matter of minutes.
“Manchester United FC has been charged after its players surrounded a match official during the 71st minute of The FA Cup tie against Fulham FC on Sunday 19 March,” confirmed an FA statement.
“It’s alleged that Manchester United FC failed to ensure its players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion and/or do not behave in a way which is improper.
“Manchester United FC has until Monday 27 March to respond.”
Before their Wembley outing, United will bid to consolidate their Champions League qualification bid against fellow top-four hopefuls Newcastle on 2 April.
