Manny Pacquiao Jr. fought at the United Irish Cultural Center and suffered a shock defeat in his fourth amateur bout.
The 21-year-old continued his boxing journey, following in the footsteps of father Manny Sr. on Saturday night in front of a San Francisco packed crowd.
Hoping to please a raucous following who had been present at all his amateur fights, Pacquiao battled hard but couldn’t get the win.
Chris Smith, a home fighter from the Bay Area, took the victory to give Pacquiao plenty to think about moving forward.
Taking up the sport after his dad was initially against it, Pacquiao Jr. is still learning. He’s only been serious about boxing for a couple of years.
Therefore, he has lots of time to improve, and losing is part of every boxer’s journey.
Boasting a massive social media following, Pacquiao – known as Jimuel – has something to fall back on if his career in the ring doesn’t work out.
He’s now 3-1 in the unpaid code.

As for father Manny, a return to boxing remains possible after losing the Philippines Presidential election last month.
Pacquiao continues to fill column inches in, potentially taking at least one more professional fight. However, with more time on his hands, honing his son’s skills further could become a factor.
Thus far, “Pacman” has kept out of Jimuel’s business regarding competing in the squared circle. This setback could be the push needed to get his father in his corner for future events.
That’s if he doesn’t fight himself one more time. The pair sharing a bill on a Manny Pacquiao farewell event is not out of the question at the moment.
For now, Manny Pacquiao Jr. has a learning curve to maneuver.
