Marcus Rashford Returns To Man United Training Ahead Of Sevilla Clash
Manchester United have been handed a huge fitness boost with Marcus Rashford returning to first-team training, according to The Athletic.
Rashford, who is United’s top scorer this term with 27 across all competitions, had previously been sidelined with a groin injury which he picked up in a 2-0 home victory over Everton earlier this month.
The Englishman missed his side’s subsequent two games and was expected to sit out a couple more but he could now be set for an early comeback.
Rashford took part in United’s training session this morning as the Red Devils prepare for their Europa League decider against Sevilla at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium.
Left-back duo Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia are both back in training too, while Marcel Sabitzer is also available again after he pulled of United’s starting XI against Nottingham Forest last time out due to a warm-up injury.
United could certainly do with the return of the aforementioned players as they approach a crucial week in their pursuit of silverware on the domestic and European fronts.
The Red Devils have a crunch FA Cup semi-final against Brighton & Hove Albion at the weekend but securing a place in the last four of the Europa League is the immediate target.
United are faced with a must-win contest away from home later today after a 2-2 first-leg draw against Sevilla last Thursday.
Erik ten Hag’s men were seemingly in cruise control of the tie after taking a two-goal lead courtesy of Sabitzer’s brace, before late own goals from Malacia and Harry Maguire restored parity.
That was United’s fourth unsuccessful attempt at picking up a win in this fixture but Rashford’s potential return to action could finally see United get the better of their Spanish counterparts.
