Marcus Rashford Returns To Training In Huge Boost To Top Four Hopes
Manchester United’s hopes of finishing in the top four of the Premier League have been boosted by the return to training of top scorer Marcus Rashford.
The 25-year-old missed United’s 2-0 win over Wolves through injury and manager Erik ten Hag even had fans sweating with by admitting he did not know the severity of Rashford’s issue.
Fortunately for United, it seems as though Rashford has already shaken off his injury as the England international was back in training on Wednesday.
Ten Hag is expected to give an update on Rashford’s condition in his pre-match press conference ahead of Saturday’s trip to Bournemouth, but there is hope the forward will be ready to help United’s push for a spot in the next season’s Champions League.
Will Man Utd finish in the top four?
United head into the weekend fourth in the Premier League, tied on points with third-placed Newcastle and with a cushion of one point over the chasing pack. Liverpool, in fifth, have also played one game more.
Therefore, Champions League qualification remains firmly in United’s hands and matching Liverpool’s results over the coming weeks would be enough to secure a top-four finish.
The concern for United fans, however, is the team’s inconsistent form in recent months. The win over Wolves ended a two-game losing streak which has opened the door to a rampant, in-form Liverpool to snatch their spot.
United do, however, have a favourable run of fixtures to close out the season. After the trip to Bournemouth, the Red Devils will welcome a woefully out-of-form Chelsea side to Old Trafford before ending the season against Fulham.
