Mateu Alemany Keen To Sign ‘Untouchable’ Barcelona Star For Aston Villa
As Mateu Alemany prepares to depart FC Barcelona and start a new journey in his career as the sporting director of Aston Villa, the 60-year-old is keen on taking along one of the players he signed at Spotify Camp Nou with him.
Indeed, according to Gabriel Sans of Mundo Deportivo, Alemany wants to sign Barcelona defender Andreas Christensen for Aston Villa in the summer transfer window.
Christensen arrived at Barça only last summer, joining as a free agent after his contract with Chelsea had run down. The 27-year-old has had a few fitness issues, but when fit and available, he has been a permanent fixture in Xavi Hernandez’s starting XI.
Christensen has become a key component of this Barcelona defensive unit, so much so that the club consider the Danish defender as one of the ‘untouchables’ in the squad.
Alemany, for his part, has been very impressed by Christensen and considers the Dane as one of his best signings at Barcelona if not the best.
So, the 60-year-old director of football would be keen on taking Christensen along with him to Aston Villa in the summer.
However, as iterated earlier, the 27-year-old is considered a non-transferable player at Barcelona and only some ‘exorbitant offers’ could change that stance at the club.
Apart from Christensen, it seems like Aston Villa are also eyeing a move for another of Alemany’s signings at Barcelona in the form of Ferran Torres.
Unlike the Danish defender, the 23-year-old forward is said to be an expendable member of the team for whom offers will be heard in the summer.
But as far as Christensen is concerned, the stance of the La Liga leaders is very much clear. The ex-Chelsea ace is an ‘untouchable’ player and the only way they would consider the thought of selling him is if an outrageous offer were to arrive in the summer.
