Mauricio Pochettino’s “Desire” Will Be “Taken Into Account” At Chelsea This Summer
Mauricio Pochettino does not officially start his new role as Chelsea manager until July the 1st, but he has very much ‘started his role’ regardless.
We are seeing all the reports coming out now about what Pochettino wants to do with this squad and what plans he is making alongside the Blues owners and directors, so you can be sure he is already having an effect in things.
But it is directors Laurence Steward and Paul Winstanley who are leading the transfer decisions, according to CBS insider Ben Jacobs, who has been writing in his latest exclusive and extensive Chelsea FC column for Si & Dan Talk Chelsea today. It is a bit of a transfer special speaking about a host of different names including Moises Caicedo, Lautaro Martinez, Andre Onana, Mason Mount, Mateo Kovacic, N’Golo Kante, Christian Pulisic and much more!
Pochettino though, will absolutely be listened to and his desires will be taken into account, according to Jacobs.
He said: “Mauricio Pochettino was hired because he buys into the model. So any suggestion that he is suddenly going to call all of the shots is wide of the mark.
But what will happen is his desire for proven Premier League quality will be taken into account, and he wouldn’t have accepted the job unless he had confidence that enough outgoings will happen to give him a manageable squad size.”
