Milik Goes From Zero To Hero In Bologna Draw With Juventus
Juventus missed a chance to leap-frog Lazio after needing to come from behind to earn a point in Bologna on Sunday.
The match got off to a rough start for the visitors when Danilo conceded a penalty, allowing Riccardo Orsolini to step up and turn things 1-0 thanks to VAR.
Down already after 10 minutes, Juventus needed to ramp up their attack, but their front lines were falling flat as they had in the past. Prior to this match, the club had only scored once in four games.
The visitors were then awarded a spot kick of their own, and Arkadiusz Milik stepped up to take his first-ever Serie A penalty only to squander the opportunity.
The Polish striker opted for a unique run-up where he jumped mid-air before striking the ball but his soft follow-through was an easy save for Łukasz Skorupski.
Behind at the break, Massimiliano Allegri made a handful of changes and Samuel Iling-Junior proved to be the key to turning the tie around.
It was an instant impact from the 19-year-old as he took on his man down the wing and into the box. The ball then fell to Milik who made the most of his second chance for 1-1.
Bologna ramped up the pressure after the equaliser but nobody was able to find the back of the net for either side, ensuring the points were split. Matías Soulé did miss an open chance for the visitors at the death.
The result means Juventus are third, one behind Lazio, and winless in five matches while Bologna are eighth.
