After Sadio Mane’s £35.1 million move to Bayern Munich was announced, Mohamed Salah wished the Senegal international success with the Bundesliga powerhouse
Following Sadio Mane’s successful transfer from Liverpool to Bayern Munich, Mohamed Salah wished him well.
After six seasons at Anfield, five of which were spent playing with Salah, Mane left the club on Wednesday in a £35.1 million move to join the German champions. The renowned front three of the Reds, which tore apart opposing defenses and propelled Liverpool to six trophies under manager Jurgen Klopp, included the two players as well as fellow striker Roberto Firmino.
Following Mane’s departure, Salah, whose Merseyside contract also expires in the summer of 2019, thanked the Senegal international on social media for his repentance, writing: “What a ride it’s been! I’m grateful for all the fun moments and wish you well on your new journey! Everyone loves and misses you.”
Mane commented in response on Instagram: “Keep going as you are. You are the finest, brother.” After weeks of heated speculation following the Reds’ heartbreaking loss in the Champions League final to Real Madrid in Paris, the former Southampton star has agreed to a three-year contract with Bayern.
In a statement of his own, Klopp reiterated Salah’s stance. “It’s a major occasion. Anyone attempting to claim otherwise is pointless “the Liverpool manager acknowledged on the club’s website after making Mane his first significant acquisition in 2016.
“We must acknowledge the significance of one of Liverpool’s all-time greatest players leaving the team. He departs with our love and thanks. When he leaves, his status as one of the greats will be confirmed. And, certainly, he departs in a position where he is among the top football players in the world.”
No matter how high he set his own bar in the previous season, Klopp continued, “To be so good for such a sustained period of time and consistently develop season on season is an example to every player anywhere on the earth that professionalism and dedication leads to reward.
“As I’m sure all of our supporters do, I sincerely appreciate his choice. This is a non-negotiable requirement if you represent LFC: you must love Sadio. This can be done while acknowledging that Bayern benefits from our loss. Naturally, we wish him the best of luck in every game he plays, except against us. His future success is without a doubt bright.
In a tearful farewell interview, Mane added, “I will come to the dressing room and I will watch Liverpool, for sure, because I am going to be Liverpool’s No. 1 fan forever. After every one of my games in Munich, I will do that.
“I just want to wish good luck to them and I have an eye on them,” the Red Bull Salzburg product continued. Due to the excellent players, talent, maturity, and attitude I know about the guys, I can say with certainty that they will get even better. As a result, Liverpool will undoubtedly continue to get better.
