Official: Barcelona Will Start 2023/24 Pre-Season Training On July 10
In an official statement, FC Barcelona have confirmed that the first-team squad will reconvene for pre-season training ahead of the 2023/24 campaign on July 10.
Barça enjoyed a successful 2022/23 campaign as they won the La Liga title and the Spanish Super Cup. However, their form tapered off towards the end of the season, after the league title was in the bag.
But they did bring down the curtains on the campaign with a 2-0 win over Vissel Kobe in a friendly encounter away in Japan – a trip that earned them around €3 million.
Now, the players and the coaching staff will have a month’s time off and they will fly off on holidays, with the exception of the stars who will be representing their national teams during the upcoming week.
Following a month-long break, Xavi & co. will reconvene for training on July 10, with the statement clarifying that the players will be put through medical tests on the morning of their return before training sessions are conducted in the afternoon.
The Blaugrana will train in Catalonia for nine days before flying off to the United States of America for their pre-season tour.
On tour in the US, the La Liga champions will play four friendlies against top-level European opponents in the form of Juventus (July 22), Arsenal (July 26), Real Madrid (July 29), and AC Milan (August 1).
Ideally, Xavi will be hoping to get at least some of his signings on board before the trip to the United States.
Ilkay Gundogan of Manchester City is one of the top targets for the Blaugrana and he could join in time for the pre-season tour, with reports suggesting that a three-year contract agreement is already in place.
