Ousmane Dembele Set To Extend Contract Until 2027
- Barcelona Attacker Informs Xavi Of Contract Renewal.
As talks regarding Ousmane Dembele’s contract extension continue to progress, a recent report from SPORT has emerged stating that the player has already informed Xavi that he wants to continue at the club and is ready to sign an extension until 2027.
After the soap opera surrounding his contract situation last year, Dembele has become one of the mainstays of Xavi’s outfit. Having penned a new two-year contract in July 2022, the player is set to enter the final twelve months of his deal this summer.
Interestingly enough, the contract also consists of a release clause worth €50 million which will be active until mid-July, but Dembele has no intention to leave Barcelona.
From Barça’s perspective, they want to resolve the situation as early as possible to avoid any plausible problems related to the release clause.
For that, sporting director Mateu Alemany has established several contacts with the player’s representatives and the management hopes to get a resolution soon.
As far as the player is concerned, he has already admitted that he is more than happy at Barcelona and the talks are going well.
“It’s going very well. Barcelona want me to renew until 2027, my agent will talk to them. I’m happy with the team, and also at home in Barcelona. We’ll see what happens,” he said.
The key to this renewal is the absolute determination of the player. Initially, there was a sense of uneasiness within the Barcelona board which was mostly down to his low release clause and the abrupt movement from the Saudi Arabian clubs.
As it turns out, however, the player is ready to commit his long-term future to the team, and in order to ensure his continuity, Barcelona are prepared to offer him an improved deal until 2027. Deco is set to meet with the forward to continue discussions.
