Pedri Training Tirelessly To Be 100% Fit For Clasico Against Real Madrid
Barcelona can take a huge step towards winning the La Liga title this weekend when they face Real Madrid at Spotify Camp Nou on Sunday.
The Blaugrana are currently at the top of the league standings and have opened up a nine-point lead over the current champions. A victory this weekend would stretch that lead to 12 points, making it extremely difficult for the capital club to catch up.
And, in the lead-up to the game on Sunday, Barcelona have received a major boost as key midfielder Pedri has returned to training and is expected to be available for the Clasico.
The 20-year-old fan favourite picked up an injury last month against Manchester United and has gone on to miss six games since. However, he is expected to receive his medical clearance in time for Sunday’s El Clasico at Camp Nou.
In fact, Roger Torello of Mundo Deportivo is reporting that Pedri has been training relentlessly over the past couple of days so that he can be 100% fit and ready to face Real Madrid this weekend.
The Spanish international did part of the team’s recovery session on Monday. Following that, Pedri showed up to training on Tuesday and Wednesday despite Xavi giving two days off to his players after the win against Athletic Club this past weekend.
And the former Las Palmas prodigy worked tirelessly at the club’s training facilities as he aims to be in tip-top condition for El Clasico. The report suggests that Pedri is likely to increase his workload today when the rest of the team returns to training after two days off.
If he is 100% fit, there is a very good chance that Pedri will go right into the starting XI against Real Madrid. However, if not, Xavi and his staff will not risk it and the midfielder could find himself on the bench.
The fact that Barcelona still have a big lead allows the manager to not take any major risks, especially considering that a Copa del Rey final could also be on the horizon.
