Kaizer Chiefs will welcome back Italian sponsors Kappa to their 2023 kit. But what will the Glamour Boys’s new kit look like?
Kaizer Chiefs are on a winning streak when it comes to the DStv Premiership action. And enjoying the high are their jubilant fans who are waiting with bated breath to see the unveiling of their 2023 kit – this time designed by sports brand Kappa.
The Italian brand announced in November that they would sponsor the team’s new kit when the next season kicks off in June 2023.
The new look marks the end of the PSL team’s relationship with Nike, which sponsored their kit for 23 years. Kappa last sponsored Amakhosi’s kit in the early 90s.
KAIZER CHIEFS RETURN TO ITALIAN SPONSORS
In a move that caught Kaizer Chiefs fans by surprise, the premier league team announced that they had signed a five-year contract with Kappa, which would come into effect in mid – 2023.
The boys in yellow and black were sponsored by the US brand Nike from 2000 – 2022. During the years 1996 – 1999, the team’s kits were sponsored by rivals Reebok.
But before Nike or Reebok were in the picture, Kappa sponsored Amakhosi’s kits from 1989 -1996. Kappa also sponsored national team Bafana Bafana’s kit for several years.

Kaizer Chiefs marketing director Jessica Motaung said in a statement: “We are excited to team up with Kappa once again, a brand with which Kaizer Chiefs set new records and established itself as trendsetters in African football in the early 1990s.”
Kappa South Africa CEO Michael Joseph added that the brand was confident it would restore the team’s glory days, as previously experienced.
He added: “Kappa, together with Kaizer Chiefs, are going to reinstall the romance of the 1990s and deliver something extraordinary to these fans.”
