PSG Criticise “Shameful Behaviour” After Supporters Show Up At Neymar’s House
Following the excesses of yesterday’s Paris Saint-Germain supporter protests, which notably saw a group of individuals show up at Neymar’s house demanding that he leaves, the club have released a statement condemning Wednesday’s events.
The protests initially took place in front of the league leaders’ headquarters, ostensibly provoked by the latest round of off-pitch drama surrounding the team – notably that of Lionel Messi’s unauthorised trip to Saudi Arabia which has seen the Argentine suspended for the next two weeks.
Chanting had also been aimed at the Brazilian forward, calling on him to leave. The 31-year-old has been out injured after an ankle ligament surgery midway through the season, and recently returned to Paris to continue his recovery.
The protests then took a darker turn, as certain fans made their way for Neymar’s home in the western suburbs, to aim their grievances directly at him – as confirmed by the former Barcelona man himself. The club has reacted:
“Paris Saint-Germain most strongly condemns the intolerable and insulting actions of a small group of individuals that took place on Wednesday.”
“Whatever the differences of opinion, nothing justifies such actions. The Club gives its full support to its players, its staff and all those targeted by such shameful behaviour.”
