Marco Asensio, the 27-year-old has been linked with a move away from Real Madrid to one of Europe’s elite clubs over the last couple of months and yesterday it was communicated that PSG wanted to bring Asensio to the Parc de Princes on the final day of the January transfer window.
However, Los Blancos were not eager to go through with the operation as they want to keep their squad in tact for the rest of the season.
Nonetheless, Asensio’s contract at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu is set to expire in June and the club are yet to sit down with the Spanish international and his agent Jorge Mendes regarding a possible renewal.
Asensio is free to sign pre-contractual agreements with other clubs and it is believed that PSG are keen to offer the Spaniard a contract that could see him play in Paris next season.
The interest from PSG could be the pressure needed for Real Madrid to start negotiating Asensio’s future in the Spanish capital.
