Milan star Rafael Leão is keen on rejecting Real Madrid and Premier League side Chelsea to push for his renewal at Milan.
Carlo Laudisa has reported that the temptations of playing for Chelsea or Real did reach Leão’s ears but he is now clear about his future and he wants to stay at the Rossoneri while signing a new deal.
Because of the determination shown by the player to sign a new deal, confidence at Milan has also grown and continues to grow on a daily basis.
The compensation for Sporting remains the key issue in the new deal but there is enough confidence at the club that they could navigate through the situation. The presence of Jorge Mendes around the wide forward has led to multiple rumours but Milan now know that Leão wants to stay.
In recent weeks, financial requests from Sporting have arrived, with Lille and Leão expected to pay a total of €22 million to the Portuguese club. But a lawsuit launched by Sporting could make sure that the club could be entitled to as much as €45 million.
It is a legal battle which is ongoing, with the other parties stating that there are no grounds for increasing the amount.
In the meantime, the economic grounds for a renewal are already there. There is only a minor gap between Leão’s demands and Milan’s offer and only the dispute with Sporting needs to resolved now.
