Raphael Varane Set To Return From Man United Injury Against Wolves
Erik ten Hag has already ruled out Raphael Varane for this weekend’s game against West Ham. The French defender has been sidelined for the last three weeks with injury and the manager will avoid rushing him back too soon.
The former France international sustained an ankle injury in the Europa League quarter-final first leg against Sevilla and initial fears suggested he could miss the rest of the season.
According to the Manchester Evening News, sources believe Varane could be available for the visit of Wolves on May 13.
That’s three weeks prior to the FA Cup final against Man City, which means Varane could be fully fit to face our rivals at Wembley.
This is also the sort of boost we need after last night’s disappointing 1-0 defeat at Brighton.
Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Ten Hag gave an update on Varane.
He said: “Prognosis: Rapha is close than Scott McTominay in this moment but still for the coming two games they are not available.”
United have only been able to win two matches since Varane’s latest injury. That should tell the manager that he needs better back-up options next season.
