Real Madrid Midfielder Will Stay At The Club Among Liverpool Interest
Over the past few weeks, there have been rumblings about the future of Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni, with the Frenchman reported to have grown unhappy at the club due to his lack of game-time in recent months.
Liverpool, who were interested in signing Tchouameni last summer before he chose to sign for Real Madrid, are once again understood to have the 23-year-old midfielder on their radars.
But, Santi Aouna of Foot Mercato (h/t Madrid Xtra) has dismissed those speculations and reported that Tchouameni will stay put at Real Madrid this summer.
Tchouameni arrived at the Santiago Bernabeu only last summer, joining from AS Monaco in a deal worth €100 million, including add-ons.
The French international soon became a permanent fixture in the starting XI following the departure of Casemiro and turned in one excellent performance after the other, soon becoming a key part of Carlo Ancelotti’s setup.
However, Tchouameni’s form has declined after the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar, while he also has had to deal with some fitness issues. It has contributed to him losing some of his sheen, leading to speculations about a move to Liverpool.
But, Real Madrid manager Ancelotti is said to have total faith in the former AS Monaco wonderkid, with the club considering him a key player for the present and the future.
Even though it might have been because of injuries to other players, Ancelotti started Tchouameni in the final of the Copa del Rey this past weekend, when he could have easily chosen Eduardo Camavinga to start in midfield and gone with Nacho at left-back.
So, while there may be some residual interest from the side of Liverpool, it seems extremely unlikely that the Merengues will let him leave just after one season.
