Real Madrid Outcast Waiting For Former Club Despite Interest From Juventus
Real Madrid defender Alvaro Odriozola is waiting for an approach from his former club Real Sociedad this summer despite having interest from other clubs like Juventus and Athletic Club.
This claim comes from Mundo Deportivo, who report that Odriozola is hoping that a move to Sociedad materialises this summer even though La Real are not looking to make much of an investment in his signing.
Odriozola came through the ranks at Real Sociedad and made inroads into the first team at San Sebastian before Real Madrid swooped him away for €32 million in 2018.
However, things never clicked for the Spaniard at the Santiago Bernabeu and loan spells away at Bayern Munich and Fiorentina did little to change the situation.
Odriozola played just six times for Los Blancos last season and it is clear that he does not feature in Carlo Ancelotti’s plans. And Real Madrid are keen to offload him this summer, with his contract expiring next summer.
As iterated earlier, clubs like Juventus and Athletic Club are interested while Sociedad have also shown some keenness. However, Odriozola wants to sign for his former club and is waiting for them, hoping that they make an approach.
Real Madrid are hoping to recover at least some part of the money they spent on Odriozola. However, as mentioned before, Sociedad do not wish to invest much in him. They already have some options at right-back and do not see him as a priority acquisition.
So, the only way they would consider signing the right-back would be if he would come for a minimal fee or possibly even free, something that Real Madrid are unwilling to sanction.
It creates complications for the transfer as the player wants to return to Sociedad only and is waiting for movement while away on holiday in the Bahamas.
