Real Madrid Provide Updates On Two Injuried Stars
Real Madrid have confirmed the extent of the injuries suffered by David Alaba and Rodrygo Goes in the win over Liverpool.
Los Blancos came from two goals down at Anfield in the first leg of their round-of-16 Champions League clash with Liverpool to record an emphatic 5-2 victory thanks to braces from Vinicius Junior and Karim Benzema, with Eder Militao grabbing the other.
It wasn’t a perfect night for Carlo Ancelotti’s men however, as two key players in Alaba and Rodrygo were both forced off with injuries.
Club statements on both injuries have now confirmed that both are muscle injuries and will be monitored.
“Following tests carried out today on Rodrygo by the Real Madrid medical services, an injury to the left piriformis muscle has been confirmed. His progress will be monitored,” the club confirmed.
“Following tests carried out today on David Alaba by the Real Madrid medical services, it has been determined that the player has a muscle injury in the distal third of the right biceps femoris. His progress is to be monitored.”
It is unclear how long both players will be out of action for, but Los Blancos will be hoping both are fit and available the upcoming second leg clash at Santiago Bernabeu.
