Report: Barcelona Set To Announce Rising Stars Contract Renewal
- Barcelona Set To Announce Teenage Rising Star’s Contract Renewal Until 2028 On Thursday.
Following a prudent summer transfer window, Barcelona are slowly trying to tie their key players down to long-term contracts.
One of the main objectives for newly-appointed sporting director Deco is to renew the contract of Alejandro Balde.
Balde renewal to happen on Thursday
A recent report from Mundo Deportivo has offered an update on Balde’s contract situation, suggesting that the club are on the verge of announcing a deal.
In fact, Balde’s renewal could happen this coming Thursday. The player’s agent Jorge Mendes and the club appeared to have reached an agreement for the same.
Balde already had an agreement with Barcelona during the summer over a new contract and signed a pre-agreement before the US tour itself.
But the new deal could not be ratified due to the club’s poor economic situation.
However, after freeing up a chunk of their wage bill, Barça are now in a position to extend deals for at least a few of their youngsters.
A big boost for Barcelona
The renewal of Alejandro Balde could serve as a massive boost for Barcelona, especially following the summer departure of Jordi Alba.
Balde is now the club’s number-one choice in the left-back position and given his age, a major future prospect for the team.
Marcos Alonso is still a part of the team, but the former Chelsea star does not appear to have any future at Camp Nou.
Balde’s current deal at Camp Nou expires at the end of the season, but the renewal will see him extend his contract until 2028.
Barcelona are understood to have included a customary €1 billion release clause in the contract, in order to fend off potential suitors.
Once the Balde deal is announced, Barcelona are likely to shift their focus on the contract of Lamine Yamal, whose contract has been agreed as well and only a formal announcement is pending.
