Report: Barcelona Winger Not Ready To Join Premier League Side Next Season
One of Barcelona’s most bizarre transfer targets ahead of the summer transfer window has to be Ruben Neves. The Wolverhampton midfielder is seen as a possible replacement for Sergio Busquets next season, but it is clear that there are better options on the horizon for a similar fee.
The Premier League club demand at least €50 million for the Portuguese international and are adamant about not accepting swap deals. However, there have been talks of Ansu Fati moving to England as part of the transaction to reduce the transfer fee involved.
According to reports from SPORT, Fati is reluctant about the idea of moving to Wolves. While a fresh start would provide him with the right stage to reignite his career, he does not see much potential at the club, which will not play in Europe next season.
The deal will only take place if all parties involved provide the green light. At the moment, that appears complicated as neither Wolves, nor Fati are convinced of the operation. Further, there are many doubts within the Barcelona board over Neves’ profile.
Fati will thus push to continue at Barcelona for another season and make his mark under Xavi Hernandez. In such a scenario, players like Nico Gonzalez, Sergino Dest or Ez Abde could enter the scene as replacements in the swap deal.
Barcelona do not have the liberty to splurge clash, and to do so for Neves would be a move many would consider unreasonable. After all, there are positions of more importance that can be reinforced with the same budget.
In 32 Premier League appearances for Julen Lopetegui’s side, the 26-year-old has scored six goals and provided one assist. Further, he averages one key pass and over ten defensive actions per game.
