Report: Barcelona Youngster Will Not Stay At The Club, Has Many Offers
In quite a surprising development, journalist Albert Roge is reporting that talented Barcelona goalkeeper Arnau Tenas will not stay at the club beyond this month.
The 22-year-old shot-stopper is a product of the club’s famed La Masia youth academy and is also the captain of the Barça Atletic side.
Tenas is widely regarded as one of the best young goalkeeping prospects in Spain and has been tipped for a bright future in the game.
The youngster’s current contract with Barcelona expires on June 30. It has an option for the club to trigger a two-year extension and while it was believed that the Catalans were planning to activate it, no such move has been made as of yet.
Only last week, it was suggested that the La Liga champions were going to hold talks with Tenas’ agent over his contract situation.
However, it seems like matters have escalated quite quickly and Tenas now appears to be on his way out of Barcelona when his contract expires on June 30, i.e., this upcoming Friday.
The report from Albert Roge adds that the goalkeeper has plenty of offers on the table. But he will only make a decision after he is done with the UEFA U-21 European Championship, where he is representing Spain.
It seems as if the Blaugrana see Inaki Pena, who recently signed a new contract, in a better position to be Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s backup and successor.
As such, the Catalans appear to have decided to let go of Tenas, which certainly comes as a bit of a shock given the youngster’s talent and his unwavering commitment towards the club.
