Report: Deco Confident About Signing Brazilian Wonderkid For Barcelona
Deco looks all set to become the replacement for Jordi Cruyff at FC Barcelona, who announced his decision to leave the club earlier this month.
Deco and Mateu Alemany have already started working together for the season ahead, charting a roadmap for Barcelona in the transfer market. As revealed earlier, the two have identified signing a striker as one of the priorities.
To that end, Diario SPORT suggests Deco’s first objective once he becomes the Barcelona sporting director will be to sign Vitor Roque. The former midfielder has an excellent connection with the South American market and has been duly tasked with the responsibility of finding a solution.
Deco strongly believes Barcelona should go after Roque if they can bring in fresh revenue from the sales of star players in the summer. Deco is also confident Barcelona can reach an agreement with Athletico Paranaense, as long as the economic formula that fits everyone is found.
Barça are studying various formulas to facilitate the transfer. The possibility of a loan deal with a mandatory purchase clause is being looked into while there are also talks of a permanent transfer with payments in instalments.
With 15 goals and seven assists in 55 competitive matches, Vitor Roque has impressed the onlookers with his technical ability and productivity in the final third. He is seen as the ideal successor to Robert Lewandowski, while his ability to play out wide could come in handy too.
But Barcelona cannot be complacent, especially with Arsenal interested in the services of the Brazilian international. Not to mention, the club must focus on player sales before they can afford a move for the young forward.
