Report: Jules Kounde’s Agent Denies Rumours Of The Player Being Open To Summer Exit
Barcelona fans have been rocked by recent speculations linking Jules Kounde with a move away from Camp Nou in the coming summer.
Reports yesterday had claimed that the young defender is not happy at Barcelona and has given his approval to listen to offers in the market. It was further suggested that Barça are not ruling out a sale, knowing the player has a good market.
But as revealed by Mundo Deportivo, Kounde’s agent has categorically denied these rumours. They have denied reports that suggest the defender has asked to leave Barcelona or offers for him were being heard.
Although Kounde is indeed unhappy with his role in the Barcelona team, he has spoken to Xavi Hernandez about it. The Barcelona coach even confirmed the talks during the post-match press conference of the Real Valladolid game.
The report from MD suggests Barcelona will go after a new right-back in the summer. The club’s priority is to sign Joao Cancelo ahead of the new season. They are likely to target a loan deal for the Portuguese international, who is currently at Bayern Munich.
Kounde, therefore, will not be forced to play in the right-back position next season. The 24-year-old will compete with the likes of Andreas Christensen, Ronald Araujo and Inigo Martinez in the centre-back slot, though he may have to slot in at right-back once in a while.
The report further states that even if Barcelona were to sell Kounde this summer, they will not do so on a cut-price deal. The player was signed for €50 million plus variables last summer, so any sale would make sure the club earn enough return on its investment.
There were suggestions of Barcelona valuing Kounde at around €80 million this summer. But it appears very unlikely the player would leave the club in the first place.
