Report: Man City And Chelsea ‘Agree Fee’ For Mateo Kovačić
Mateo Kovačić appears to have moved a step closer to becoming a Manchester City player, with widespread reports on Wednesday of a fee agreed with Chelsea.
City submitted a written bid for Kovačić on Tuesday, and it has reportedly now been accepted, with the Croatian midfielder set to move to the Etihad Stadium for £25m with a further £5m to follow in add-ons.
The 29-year-old — who has one year remaining on his Chelsea contract — is already believed to have discussed personal terms with City, and will soon undergo a medical.
City boss Pep Guardiola has reportedly admired Kovačić since the midfielder’s time at Real Madrid, whom he joined Chelsea from in an initial loan deal in 2019.
With uncertainty over the futures of İlkay Gündoğan and Bernardo Silva, Kovačić could prove to be a vital summer arrival at the Etihad Stadium if the deal goes through.
