After more than four seasons of injury-ridden underwhelming performances, Xavi has managed to get the most out of Ousmane Dembele. The Frenchman was at his absolute best last term, registering 13 assists in 21 appearances in the league.
Dembele has managed to carry on most of his best form from last season into 2022/23, as he boasts five goals and five assists in 18 La Liga games.
Unfortunately, he picked up a muscle injury against Girona and was ruled out for more than a month in the process. Without him, Barcelona’s goalscoring exploits have taken a bit of a toll.
Despite his injury, PSG seem to be interested in him, according to Dani Gil. The French giants are still keeping tabs on him, years after their initial interest in the player.
If reports are to be believed, PSG could be set to lose Neymar and Lionel Messi in the summer, leaving them with just Kylian Mbappe and possibly Hugo Ekitike as forward options in the first-team squad.
Leo was initially looking to extend his contract with PSG, but seems to have changed his mind since then. An exit looks more likely at this point, with Barcelona eager to bring him back to the club.
Dembele, in theory, could serve as an amazing addition for Paris on the right-wing to complement Mbappe. The Frenchman has a release clause of just €50 million this summer, which should ring alarm bells at Barcelona.
Dembele signed a new contract with Barça in the summer of 2022, penning down a deal till 2024. The club is interested in extending this deal further, but it seems unlikely that they will get to proceed with it anytime soon due to their financial fair play problems.
