Report: Real Madrid And Man City Interested In Bayern Munich Star But Player Not For Sale
After having butted heads in the race for Jude Bellingham, Real Madrid and Manchester City could find themselves involved in another transfer battle for another Bundesliga star in the form of Alphonso Davies.
Indeed, according to journalist Florian Plettenberg, Real Madrid and Manchester City are both very much interested in the Canadian left-back but Bayern Munich have no intentions of selling him.
Davies has evolved into one of the topmost left-backs in Europe during his time at the Allianz Arena, standing out particularly because of his exceptional speed and ability to make contributions in attack.
In 38 matches this term, the 22-year-old has scored three goals and set up eight more, although he is out of action currently due to an injury.
Nonetheless, Real Madrid have had an eye on Davies for a while now and are said to be interested in signing the left-back.
Even though the Merengues are set to reinforce the left-back spot in the summer with the signing of Fran Garcia, there are serious question marks over the continuity of Ferland Mendy, who is being linked with Arsenal.
In case of the Frenchman’s departure, Carlo Ancelotti would be short on options at left-back even though he can count on David Alaba or Eduardo Camavinga as makeshift solutions.
It could explain Real Madrid’s interest in signing Davies, whose contract with Bayern Munich expires in 2025. But, Manchester City director Txiki Begiristain would ‘love’ to see the Canadian at the Etihad Stadium as per the report.
Meanwhile, Bayern Munich consider Davies as non-transferable and are instead working towards extending his contract beyond 2025.
So, Real Madrid’s pursuit of the 22-year-old will not be easy by any means. And it remains to be seen if they will make a concrete push for him, although a move could depend on whether or not Mendy is sold in the summer.
