Ronald Araujo and Pedri Likely To Miss Real Sociedad Clash Due To Discomfort
Having secured the league title, Barcelona will look to improve upon their record in the league this season as they take on Real Sociedad this weekend.
RFEF president will be present at Camp Nou during the game and will formally present captain Sergio Busquets with the trophy.
But on this special occasion, it appears Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez may have to make do with the absence of two of his youngsters in the form of Ronald Araujo and Pedri.
According to Diario AS, both players are carrying discomfort and everything indicates they will not be included in the squad against Real Sociedad this weekend.
Both players had incurred knocks during last weekend’s derby against Espanyol at the RCDE Stadium, where a win for the visiting side ensured them the league title. The victory was followed by celebrations on the streets of Barcelona the following day.
Araujo and Pedri are both crucial elements in the Barcelona starting eleven, so their absence could certainly be a blow for the home side against Sociedad. They are not the only ones to miss this either, with even Gavi facing a suspension due to the accumulation of yellow cards.
However, with the league title sealed, the absence of Gavi, Araujo and Pedri, could serve as an excuse for Xavi to hand opportunities to some of the lesser-used players in the team.
Pablo Torre, in particular, is looking forward to the final stretch of the campaign as he looks to prove himself and remain part of the Barcelona team next season. The midfielder, though, has been linked with a move to Villarreal on loan this summer.
Another youngster who could receive minutes is Lamine Yamal. The 15-year-old made his dream debut for Barça earlier this month and will look to capitalise on the opportunities in this final stretch of the campaign.
