Southampton Accept £50M Bid From Chelsea For Romeo Lavia
- Southampton accept £50M bid from Chelsea for Lavia Who prefers Liverpool.
Franco-Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri reports, as others have this evening, that Southampton have found an agreement in principle with Chelsea to sell Belgian defensive midfield prospect Roméo Lavia for a package worth £50m.
The London club are seeking to anticipate further pushing on the part of Liverpool for the player, as they are already engaged in a serious transfer tussle over Brighton’s defensive midfielder Moises Caicedo. The midfielder himself is understood to have already said goodbyes to several of his team-mates at Championship club Southampton.
Lavia has found a provisional contract agreement with Chelsea on a 5-year contract with the option to extend by a further year.
The possibility that Jürgen Klopp’s Liverpool outfit make a last-minute attempt to hijack the deal, with Lavia having told one of his closest confidant’s last night that he “wants to be in Liverpool,” according to the journalist in question, should not be ruled out.
