SPAIN COACH MADE IT CLEAR WHY DE GEA WILL NOT BE PART OF HIS PLANS
Spain Coach Luis Enrique Highly Critical of David De Gea in Explaining His Exclusion From La Furia Roja.
Enrique did not pull punches when it came to why he is out in the cold, pointing out De Gea’s technical deficiencies as the main reason.
Spain coach Luis Enrique was unflattering in describing why Manchester United goalkeeper De Gea remains out in the wilderness away from the national setup.
The 31-year-old was once again one of the Red Devils’ top performers in the difficult post-Sir Alex Ferguson era. Having been a part of the Spanish side for several seasons, he then fell out of favour with Enrique in recent times.
The Mirror reported that Enrique has now stated that he prefers a goal-minder who is at ease with the ball at his feet, allowing the team to play the ball out from the back.
This is what he said…
“A goalkeeper should start the play and generate the first superiority, they must dominate the aerial play. I need a goalkeeper that transmits peace and calmness to me – and that doesn’t mean they won’t make mistakes, errors are part of football. But what they generate I like a lot.”
The Spanish mentor’s current goalkeeping corps currently consists of starter Unai Simon, David Raya and Robert Sanchez, according to Goal.
De Gea is being tipped as one of the frontrunners tipped to replace the struggling Harry Maguire as club as Erik Ten Hag attempts a revolution at Old Trafford, as per the Daily Mail.
