THE SERBIAN STRIKER NURKOVIC TO FEATURE FOR EGYPTIAN SIDE AL AHLY

Kaizer Chiefs forward Samir Nurkovic’s representative has responded to rumours linking the Serbian striker to Egyptian club Al Ahly.

As it stands Nurkovic will be out of contract in June after Chiefs failed to meet the March 31 deadline to exercise the option of another year on his contract.

AmaKhosi requested an extension up to May 31 to decide on Nurkovic but his camp turned down that request meaning he is now eligible to sign a pre-contract.

“We have had no contact from Al Ahly or (Pitso) Mosimane about Samir,” says Dajan Simac, who is Nurkovic’s intermediary.

An online report stated that Simac confirmed that Al Ahly was interested.

“Nobody from the media has contacted me regarding Nurkovic so it is not true that I spoke about interest from Al Ahly.

“This is rather disrespectful to Samir, Kaizer Chiefs and me that there is talk of Al Ahly when there is absolutely nothing of that nature,” says Simac.

Nurkovic is in his third season at Chiefs, which is the longest that he has stayed at one club throughout his career.

He scored 14 goals in his first season before new contract negotiations and interest from the Middle East complicated his second year.

The Serbian has scored just once in 12 appearances this season after returning from injury having undergone knee surgery in September.
