Three Premier League Clubs Show Interest In Barcelona Defender Sergino Dest
Sergino Dest is one of many Barcelona players likely to be axed in the coming summer. The right-back is coming on the back of a poor loan spell at AC Milan, who will not be exercising the option to sign the player on a permanent deal.
Having failed to live up to his price tag, Dest is not included in Xavi’s plans for the season ahead despite the apparent need for a new right-back.
There were initially fears that Barça may have a tough time finding a suitor for Dest, especially following his struggles at Camp Nou and San Siro. But in a recent interview (h/t Diario SPORT), Dest’s agent has confirmed the player has been targeted by at least three Premier League clubs.
“There are three Premier clubs that have already shown a lot of interest,” the agent said, suggesting that the player is already a hot prospect in the English market.
But the agent admitted talks are still at initial stages and there has been no advancements as of yet. “There are still no advances with any club. Dest will return to Barcelona and then we will talk to the club’s management about his future,” he added.
Apart from these three Premier League clubs, Dest’s services have also been sought by Bundesliga outfit Union Berlin, who are in contention to participate in the Champions League next season.
Barcelona are also open to including Dest in a direct swap deal involving Yannick Carrasco – one of the club’s main targets in the coming summer, as they look to reinforce their options on the left flank.
As we enter the final few weeks of the season, one would expect Barcelona to make some moves in the near future and secure a buyer for the American international.
