Todd Boehly and Clearlake Make Huge Season Ticket Price Decision To Appease Frustrated Supporters
Chelsea have confirmed their decision to freeze general admission season tickets for a 12th successive season for the 2023/24 campaign.
The Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital ownership have opted to not increase general admission prices following a disappointing season in their first year of owning Chelsea.
The Chelsea Supporters’ Trust wrote an open letter to Chelsea in March urging the club not to raise prices as a result of the club’s finish in the Premier League and the rising cost of living.
Now, as reported by Matt Law of the Daily Telegraph, Chelsea have listened to their supporters and made the decision not to anger and frustrate their fans even more by freezing the ticket prices for next season.
Chelsea will not play Champions League football next season, currently 11th in the league, after getting knocked out at the quarter-final stage this term by Real Madrid.
It’s claimed that discussions took place within the club over whether or not there should be a price increase – which was planned under the previous owner Roman Abramovich’s regime – but ‘there has been recognition that the majority of supporters should not be asked to pay more’ due to the club not qualifying for Europe next season and being on course to finish in the bottom half of the Premier League table.
However, there is set to be a rise in other areas of Stamford Bridge. Matt Law reports that hospitality tickets will increase, however it is less than the rate of inflation, while Westview tickets will go up ‘in line with what was contractually stated at the time of the renovation’.
Mauricio Pochettino expected to take over in west London in the summer.
